Fifth queer pride fires up dresden.

Our fifth Queer Pride Dresden took place on Saturday, 21 June 2025. More than 1700 people marched through the city centre under the motto ‘Queer and antifascist – our bridges hold’.

A feeder demonstration by the group Antifascista Dresden from the main train station welcomed visitors from other cities and neighbouring countries and ensured a smooth journey to the Altmarkt. Thousands of people joined the demonstration procession from the Kulturpalast to Alaunpark, accompanied by four loudspeaker trucks, a quiet & family block with a soap bubble cargo bike and a carriage pulled by costumed horses.

Queer political demands were presented with various flags and banners. Speeches by groups such as Queer Monday and Queeres Döbeln, Gerede e.V. and the ‘Free Maja’ campaign were also part of the programme. In Dresden’s Neustadt district, the procession was greeted by flyers thrown out of a window calling for Maja’s return to Germany.

“For the fifth time now, we are looking forward to a bold and brave Pride in Dresden. We are overwhelmed by the positive response,” says press spokesperson Jascha. ‘”The idea of solidarity embodied in the motto ’our bridges hold’ is more than just lip service. The many guests from saxony and abroad are a success of our networking efforts. We have put a lot of energy into preparing for the Pride season in recent months. Together with other East German CSDs, we have sent a strong signal through the ‘We are the colourful hinterland!’ campaign that we will not be impressed by right-wing attempts at intimidation.”

Queer Pride Dresden took an inclusive approach with DGS interpretation, a quiet & family block, information on accessibility and bilingualism. “It is important for us to convey that our Pride is a place where queer life is celebrated. But we also create and defend a solidary and diverse society” says Jascha.

A party at the ‘objekt klein a’ club rounded off this year’s Queer Pride Dresden with performances, live music and DJs. The next Queer Pride is planned for 20 June 2026.
